The service uses geostationary communication satellites for transmission of the WADGPS message. The system covers almost the entire globe. In high latitudes it can be difficult to get the DGPS corrections due to the low elevation of the satellites. For example: Elevation of a satellite, at latitude 66°30', is 15° which complicate the use, especially in land applications. Because of the satellite system's high area coverage, OmniSTAR suits navigation well. Omnistar uses data from SWEPOS to the DGPS service.
